Bidding Group Giants Reach to RFA for NY Online Sports Betting License

The New York Gaming Commission recently concluded the bids for New York online sports betting licenses. The development witnessed several big names trying to get a hold of the license. The Commission released a list of applicants bidding for the online sports betting license.

The list included several individual ventures along with three groups submitting collective bids. In addition, the Commission will approve bids of four platform operators and two platform providers. Many believe that every applicant within a bid package can act as a platform provider.

Here is a quick overview of the listed partners and bidding groups:

• Kambi (primary applicant), Penn Interactive, Fanatics Sportsbook
• Bet365
• FanDuel (primary applicant), BetNGM, DraftKings, and BallyBet (partners)
• FoxBET
• theScore Bet (now under the Penn National Gaming)
• Resorts World, Rush Street Interactive, WynnBET, PointsBet, and Caesars (partners.)

DraftKings openly confirmed its involvement in the bidding session while discussing its Q2 earnings with investors. However, no one expected the operator to join hands with BallyBet, BetMGM, and FanDuel to apply.

Another unexpected turn arises from theScore Bet as Penn National Gaming recently purchased the company. It is still unclear how it will affect the company’s license proposal.

The New York Gaming Commission will reward every bid package, and the Commission must choose two proposed operators to lead the state’s online sports betting industry.

It does not make any difference if the platform providers are included in multiple bid packages. The Commission can still perceive them in more than one package. If the executives select them in various packages, the provider needs to pay 25 million dollars in application fees for each application.
